I wrote this The Killer’s Game Parents Guide to help you know what is in the movie. All opinions are my own.
Opening this weekend is Dave Bautista’s new movie The Killer’s Game. It also stars Sofia Boutella, Terry Crews, Scott Adkins, Pom Klementieff, and Ben Kingsley. There are a lot of great things about this movie, but I feel like none of them really came together to make it a great movie. It is pretty predictable, the fight scenes are ok – but in the overall scheme of things I felt like it was almost like a been there, don’t that. I was hoping for some twists and turns, There really aren’t any. But the acting is good. There are some funny lines. The special effects are cool. It just didn’t quite mark all the boxes to make it something that I would run back to see.
The Killer’s Game opens in theaters on 9/13/2024
The Killer’s Game Parents Guide
The Killer’s Game is rated R for strong bloody violence throughout, language, some sexual material, brief drug use, and nudity. It runs for 1hr 44m.
There are no end-credit scenes for The Killer’s Game.
Sex & Nudity & Innuendos – 3/5 – It shows a scene with a man and three women. They are wearing thongs (but full close-ups of their bottoms are shown, and 1-2 of them are topless while the other has a bra on. Sex implied. A love scene between a man and a woman. No nudity is shown here, but love-making motions are seen. Two exotic dancers are shown, one on a pole with close-ups of private parts. There is talk about blowjobs, swallowing, and taking it “in the ass”. A shirt is worn by one of the characters (fairly certain no bra) and it’s a high-cut shirt. A boob (I believe) is shown a couple of times – but quickly. There are two different scenes where a woman grabs a man’s crotch. One is very violent, the other is forceful. A use of “shoot your dick off”. Shows the male genitalia getting cut off.
Violence & Gore – 4/5 – Pretty much anytime there is a combat scene you can expect extreme gore. Blood spraying, heads and other body parts blown off, teeth knocked out, gruesome cuts that leave people bleeding out. Getting blades in the head or other body parts and then showing it close-up with blood and other matter going everywhere. Body parts (insides out) shown after an explosion. There is a knife, sword, gun, hand-to-hand, bomb (grenade), deer horns, and multiple other weapons used, and each scene shows very detailed graphic violence. One very gruesome scene is a man tied up by two motorcycles and they take off in different directions and the man is ripped to pieces (and it’s shown). A burning and mutilated hand is shown being used to light a cigar of the killer.
Profanity – 4/5 – 55+ uses of F (and variations), 7+ uses of ass (and variations), 5+ uses of bitch, 6+ uses of hell, 4+ uses of damn, 17+ uses of shit, 10+ uses of God (and variations). Also use of bastard, cunt, and other crude words.
Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 3/5 – Smoking is scene throughout, drinking (socially and also with purposes of getting drunk) is shown throughout. Sniffing drugs, smoking drugs, selling drugs – it’s all in there.
Frightening & Intense Scenes – 2/5 – I didn’t feel like there was much intensity to the movie. I wasn’t overly frightened or on the edge of my seat at any point.
The Killer’s Game is a fun watch. But it is predictable and very gory. If you go in expecting to be entertained, and just have fun – you will leave enjoying the movie.
