We were able to watch the movie from a screener of The Croods: A New Age, provided by Universal Pictures. All opinions are my own.
I am SO EXCITED to finally write a movie review again, lol. It is fitting that it is The Croods, as I feel a little like we have been in caveman times with the chaos that has been happening this year. This last weekend we gathered around the TV in our living room with popcorn, drinks, and treats and watched The Croods: A New Age.
My kids have been so excited to see this, especially my 9 and 11-year-old kiddos. I have to tell you that they then again watched it the next day, and loved it just as much.
Our Review of the movie
The movie starts about where the other left off. I love that the same voices are back – it really made the movie. And I love all of the humor they added. It really relates to how kids/teens feel and the hardships of parenting as well.
The movie is great for all ages – but I will give a spoiler warning here: a chicken is stabbed in the eye, and then a man. It is a 3-second blip in the middle of the movie and it may or may not phase them – but something to be aware of. I didn’t feel like there were any overly intense parts or anything that might scare younger kids – but if you are worried you can always screen it first. It definitely isn’t any “scarier” than the first movie.

The Croods need a new place to live. So, the first prehistoric family sets off into the world in search of a safer place to call home. The Croods: A New Age features the voice talent of returning stars Nicolas Cage as Grug Crood, Catherine Keener as Ugga Crood, Emma Stone as their daughter, Eep; Ryan Reynolds as Eep’s boyfriend, Guy; Clark Duke (Hot Tub Time Machine) as Thunk and Cloris Leachman as Gran. They’re joined by new stars Peter Dinklage (HBO’s Game of Thrones) as Phil Betterman, Leslie Mann (Blockers) as Hope Betterman, and Kelly Marie Tran (Star Wars: Episode VIII-The Last Jedi) as their daughter, Dawn.
The film is directed by Joel Crawford, who has worked on multiple DreamWorks Animation films, including Trolls and the Kung Fu Panda franchise, and is produced by Mark Swift (Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted).
The Croods: A New Age comes out in theaters 11/25/20
This will be so much fun to go and see with your family over Thanksgiving break. It is packed with humor and action and will keep your kids entertained from beginning to end. I highly recommended watching The Croods (first movie) before you go and see this one as they play right off of each other. We did that and I am glad because I had forgotten so many things.
