My family loves to watch movies. Some of our favorites are MARVEL’s The Avengers because my kids are Super Hero nuts. I don’t know where they get it from… 😉 An essential part of movie night in our house are the treats. We always love to have fun and yummy food to snack on. Since the next movie night we have planned is for this weekend when MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out, we have stocked up on cool Avengers snacks like Granola Bars, String Cheese and Grapes.
We wanted to make something Spooky with our treats this weekend since it is the beginning of Halloween and that is one of our favorite holidays. All month long we celebrate with yummy Halloween themed snacks and treats. With the Granola Bars, Grapes and String Cheese we wanted to do something simple but fun so we took the Grapes and used them as a spider body, then attached strings of the cheese for the legs. They turned out really cute. We then took some black frosting (from a tube for writing) and a toothpick and dotted eyes all over it. My kids LOVED these and couldn’t get enough of them. They were a huge hit!
12 large globe grapes
Toothpicks (cut into thirds)
String Cheese (cut into long pieces)
Black Frosting
Another thing we did for our Spooky Snacks plate, was take the Granola Bars and some melted white chocolate (melt chocolate with a little bit of oil or shortening to make it more “flexible”), and then drizzle it over the granola bar to make it look like a mummy, or you can dip the bar into the chocolate to make it look like a ghost. Then we used the same black frosting and dobbed eyes on the mummy and eyes and a mouth on the ghost. They both taste great (of course) and look really cute.
8 Granola Bars
3 squares of White Chocolate Bark
1 tsp of Oil or Shortening
Black Frosting
Melt Chocolate and oil in a microwave safe bowl for 30 seconds – stir – then heat another 30 seconds. Use a spoon to drizzle chocolate back and forth to make a mummy, or dip the granola bars into the chocolate for a ghost.
While we were at Walmart getting our treats, we were looking at the Halloween stuff, and my son found this Iron Man costume and well, that was that! He loves Iron Man (he is my sons favorite) so we had to get it for him. Walmart has an awesome selection of MARVEL’s The Avengers Super Hero costumes for a great price so be sure to check it out next time you go. I loved all of the Marvel items we are able to find there, from food, clothes and toys to costumes and toiletries. My kids had a blast picking things out.
I would love to hear what your kids’ favorite spooky treats are for movie nights and what their favorite costumes are!
