In just a few days I will be in Los Angeles walking with Giants on the Red Carpet for #TheBFGEvent. Not only do I get to be part of that amazing experience, but I will be able to meet and interview several cast members as well as the director Steven Spielberg…wait, let’s say that again…I get to meet and interview Steven Spielberg!!! I am thrilled to be part of this event and more than excited that I get to be the official photographer for the event again (I was able to do this for the Captain American Event).  Disney’s The BFG is a movie based on Roald Dahl’s (Charlie an the Chocolate Factory and Matilda) book and from the “human beans” that created E.T..

BFGEvent1

I fly out Monday morning for this amazing trip and I want to share the details with you so you can follow along with me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #TheBFGEvent. Here is what we will be doing:

TheBFG5738ad529d2d5

Monday 6/20 we get to screen Disney’s The BFG movie

Tuesday 6/21 is interview day for #TheBFG and Red Carpet night! We will be interviewing:

  • Director Steven Spielberg   …   (Bucket list item checked)
  • Ruby Barnhill (“Sophie”)
  • Penelope Wilton (“The Queen”)
  • Rebecca Hall (“Mary”)
  • Mark Rylance (“The BFG”)
  • Jemaine Clement (“Fleshlumpeater”)

This is an amazing line up of people that are extremely talented. It is going to be such a fun time! Be sure to comment below with your questions for any of these amazing talented people and I may ask it during the interviews!

The talents of three of the world’s greatest storytellers – Roald Dahl, Walt Disney and Steven Spielberg – finally unite to bring Dahl’s beloved classic “The BFG” to life. Directed by Spielberg, Disney’s “The BFG” tellsthe imaginative story of a young girl and the Giant who introduces her to the wonders and perils of Giant Country. “I think it was kind of genius of Roald Dahl to be able to empower the children. It was very, very brave of him to introduce that combination of darkness and light which was so much Disney’s original signature in a lot of their earlier works like in ‘Dumbo,’ ‘Fantasia,’ ‘Snow White’ and ‘Cinderella,’ and being able to do scary, but also be redemptive at the same time and teach a lesson, an enduring lesson, to everyone, it was a wonderful thing for Dahl to have done, and it was one of the things that attracted me to want to direct this Dahl book,” says Spielberg.

The BFG (Mark Rylance), while a giant himself, is a Big Friendly Giant and nothing like the other inhabitants of Giant Country. Standing 24-feet tall with enormous ears and a keen sense of smell, he is endearingly dim-witted and keeps to himself for the most part. Giants like Bloodbottler (Bill Hader) and Fleshlumpeater (Jemaine Clement) on the other hand, are twice as big and at least twice as scary and have been known to eat humans, while the BFG prefers Snozzcumber and Frobscottle. Upon her arrival in Giant Country, Sophie, a precocious 10-year-old girl from London, is initially frightened of the mysterious giant who has brought her to his cave, but soon comes to realize that the BFG is actually quite gentle and charming, and, having never met a giant before, has many questions. The BFG brings Sophie to Dream Country where he collects dreams and sends them to children, teaching her all about the magic and mystery of dreams.

Having both been on their own in the world up until now, their affection for one another quickly grows. But Sophie’s presence in Giant Country has attracted the unwanted attention of the other giants, who have become increasingly more bothersome. Says Spielberg, “It’s a story about friendship, it’s a story about loyalty and protecting your friends and it’s a story that shows that even a little girl can help a big giant solve his biggest problems.” Sophie and the BFG soon depart for London to see the Queen (Penelope Wilton) and warn her of theprecarious giant situation, but they must first convince the Queen and her maid, Mary (Rebecca Hall), that giants do indeed exist. Together, they come up with a plan to get rid of the giants once and for all.

After the interviews we are going to be able to see a special screening of QUEEN OF KATWE. This movie looks spectacular and I can’t wait to see it and share parts of it with you.

“Queen of Katwe” is the colorful true story of a young girl selling corn on the streets of rural Uganda whose world rapidly changes when she is introduced to the game of chess, and, as a result of the support she receives from her family and community, is instilled with the confidence and determination she needs to pursue her dream of becoming an international chess champion.

After the screening we are going to head back to our hotel and get ready to walk the red carpet! I am so excited that we are going to be heading to the THE BFG Premiere party at the Hard Rock Café. I can’t wait to hang out with my friends and mingle with the talent that is there. It is so fun! After the party we are going to be walking the red carpet as we make our way into the Premiere Screening of THE BFG.

This is going to be a whirlwind day full of adventure and excitement. I can’t wait to share it all with you.

FutureWorm

Wednesday Morning we are going to be previewing the new Disney XD show Future-Worm!.  We will get the screen an episode and then do a Q&A with Executive Producer Ryan Quincy and see FUTURE-WORM! Photos and artwork.

“Future-Worm!”; an animated comedy adventure series about an optimistic 12-year- old who creates a time machine lunch box, and then meets and befriends a fearless worm from the future (with titanium-enforced abs), premieres MONDAY, AUGUST 1 (11:00-11:30 a.m. EDT), on Disney XD. Created and executive-produced by Emmy Award-winning director Ryan Quincy (“South Park”), the comedy follows Danny and Future Worm as they embark on adventures through space, time and study hall. The characters were introduced last year in a popular “Future-Worm!”; short-form series on Disney XD and Disney XD’s YouTube Channel.

We will also be able to visit the Disney Lot and do some shopping. It is going to be a great few days packed full of excitement!

This trip is sponsored by Disney Channel. This does not affect my opinions and they are 100% my own
