I wrote this Beetlejuice Parents Guide to help you know what is in the movie. All opinions are my own.

I am a long-time fan of the Beetlejuice cartoon series. It wasn’t until I was older that I actually watched the Beetlejuice movie for the first time. I honestly couldn’t tell you much about it as I had forgotten most of it until I watched it again earlier this week to get ready for the new Beetlejuice Beetlejuice movie that hits theaters on 9.6.24. While it’s definitely not one of my favorite movies, it is a fun watch and has a lot of entertainment value. The only things I didn’t appreciate were the TWO F bombs, and the crudeness. The overall Tim Burton style of the movie is great and a lot of fun. It brings a whole different level to the film than most other horror films because of the way it was made and I enjoyed it. If you haven’t already, you can also read our Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Parents Guide.

Beetlejuice is available to watch on MAX or buy on Amazon

Beetlejuice Parents Guide

Beetlejuice is rated PG. It runs for 1hr 32m.

There are no end-credit scenes for Beetlejuice.

Sex & Nudity & Innuendos –  2/5 – A couple kisses a few times and playful behavior. Two people are “oohing and ahhing” like ghosts and the daughter thinks it’s her parents “getting busy”. A few uses of sexual behavior, etc. (at about 45-47 min in) – Beetlejuice does a yanking motion (sexual). He lifts a woman’s skirt with a stick to try and look under it. He kisses a woman (without her consent). He grabs his crotch and pulls a couple of times. He talks about “not having action in 600 years”, and then he goes into a whore house (shows scantily clad girls beckoning to him). It also says whore house in dialogue. There are several interactions and words that are crude

Violence & Gore – 2/5 – People being dropped, launched, and “held” down. There are some gory scenes. Shows people who are decapitated, or grotesquely shown.

Profanity – 3/5 – There are a couple uses of GD, hell, shit, damn. 7+ more uses of God. 2 F-bombs (at around 50 mins and another at around 1 hr 10 min). 1 use of Jesus.

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – 1/5 – Smoking. Social drinking.

Frightening & Intense Scenes – 2/5 – A couple crashes a car into a river. A couple of jump scares. Some weird-looking creatures and gross-looking people who have died.

Other things to note – Beetlejuice eats insects (could be funny – but gross).

Beetlejuice is a classic Tim Burton movie. There are a few frightening scenes – but it’s more like The Nightmare Before Christmas, not Nightmare on Elm Street.

About Beetlejuice:

After Barbara (Geena Davis) and Adam Maitland (Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes (Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones) and teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose “help” quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia.
