We were able to watch the movie in order to write this American Underdog Parents Guide. All opinions are my own.

First of all, I have to say that this movie grabs you by the heart right from the beginning and it doesn’t let go. It will stay with you long after you leave the theater. Zachary Levi does an incredible job of showcasing Kurt Warner in this amazing story.

I think i loved the emotional aspect so much because it is 100% real. The ups and downs. The struggles. The victories. Love, family, God, hope, determination, never giving up and always giving 100% all come together in the perfect storm.

I took my family to see this and they loved it as much as I did. It is family friendly (see a few notes below) and well worth seeing it in theaters!

American Underdog Parents Guide

American Underdog is rated PG for some language and thematic elements.

American Underdog runs for 1 hour and 52 minutes.

There are a couple of American Underdog end credit scenes that I recommend you stay and watch.

Sex & Nudity – A couple of kissing scenes. Nothing sexual or overly romantic.

Violence & Gore – Football hits and other game play

Profanity – 1 use of hell (maybe something else but I didn’t hear it)

Alcohol, Drugs & Smoking – Several scenes shown with beer or alcohol, but it isn’t in the foreground. A couple of scenes in a bar, but shown for country dancing.

Frightening & Intense Scenes – A couple of the scenes are intense but not scary.

Overall, fantastic movie. Family friendly that will leave you feeling happy and motivated.

About American Underdog

American Underdog tells the inspirational true story of Kurt Warner (Zachary Levi), who went from a stockboy at a grocery store to a two-time NFL MVP, Super Bowl champion, and Hall of Fame quarterback. The film centers on Warner’s unique story and years of challenges and setbacks that could have derailed his aspirations to become an NFL player – but just when his dreams seemed all but out of reach, it is only with the support of his wife, Brenda (Anna Paquin) and the encouragement of his family, coaches, and teammates that Warner perseveres and finds the strength to show the world the champion that he already is. American Underdog is an uplifting story that demonstrates that anything is possible when you have faith, family, and determination.
