5 things you will take away from Disney-Pixar’s Coco #PixarCoco

On Monday night I had the opportunity to take my family and go watch a pre-screening of Disney-Pixar’s Coco. I have to admit, going into the movie I wasn’t quite sure what to expect – “a cute movie about a boy who goes to a world with skeletons” was what I was telling my kids. I know there was a little more to it – he was on an adventure to find his grandfather – but until I started watching the movie was I truly captivated by this amazing new film from Disney-Pixar. Coco will fill your heart with love and leave you teary-eyed (happy tears) at the end of a beautiful journey about self-discovery and family. Every one of my kids LOVED (note the emphasis – theirs, not mine) it.

Here are 5 things you will take away from Disney-Pixar’s Coco and why you need to go see it with your family:

  1. Everyone has to learn for themselves what is important and why it is important to them
  2. We need to listen to our family and support them in what they love
  3. The connection of family is strong and eternal
  4. Remembering those who have passed on is a special part of who we are
  5. Music can bring you together and create lasting memories

I don’t want to share any spoilers with you, but I honestly can’t get over how incredible this movie is. Coco will steal your heart in the first three minutes and you won’t get it back It is packed with humor, love, and loyalty in a beautiful combination that reminds us what is truly important in life. GO SEE IT! And print off these fun Coco coloring pages and activity sheets for your kids!

Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history.
